Insanity with Shaun T. – Why I Want To Try It Next

Shaun T. is not only the instructor for Hip Hop Abs, he is also the instructor/creator of the Beachbody fitness program called Insanity. This program is to cardio what P90X is to resistance training. Essentially, it is interval training turned upside down. Regular interval training requires short bursts of moderate intensity exercise with short periods of rest.

However, Insanity uses maximum-intensity exercise which forces your body to use fast-twitch muscle fibers that aren't normally used during cardio exercise. This workout is so intense that you are likely to be working out at over 85% of your maximum which burns more fat and carbs. The program states that you could burn as much as 1,000 calories per hour.

I Must Be Insane

So why would I want to try something this advanced? I think it looks like a lot of work but it also looks like it would be a lot of fun too. I like cardio workouts much more than pumping iron, but I still perform resistance training for my muscles. This program looks like it combines everything - cardio and resistance training using just your body weight.

If you're wondering if Insanity is anything like Hip Hop Abs, it is not. It isn't danced based. Check out the promo video below to see exactly what it's about.

This is considered an advanced program so get checked out with your doctor before trying it. I have read before that interval training is much more effective in terms of burning fat and maintaining muscle. If you are interested, you can order through my product link below:
