Phone Tip – Using Skype for Business Calls

by Eartha

If you spend a majority of your workday on the computer like I do, you may run into the same issue I had with business calls. I have been using my cell phone for business but the longer I talk on it, the more problems I began to have. Here are a few that were beginning to annoy me:

1. My phone would get really hot.
2. The conversation would often get cut out or the call drops all together.
3. I don’t like talking over the speaker or holding it up to my ear for long periods.

I decided to look into Skype’s features and discovered that they have an option to purchase an online number. That means when people dial my new number, it rings me on Skype and I can speak to them through my headset, leaving my hands free to continue typing and navigating the web. It also prevents all of the issues above.

Skype has a monthly subscription plan which I opted for (unlimited US and Canada) for $2.95 a month. I’m going to try out this service for a few months to see if it works out better for me since I’m always online. I think it will be a good option. If it ends up being a bad idea, I’ll post about it here.
